Introduction

Have you ever had that kind of a day in which you have no desire for doing anything productive even though you have a lot of work and various tasks for the day but the only thing you do is lying on the couch and watching TV?

I think that it is totally OK to occasionally have such days, but it would turn into a problem if you slip and turn this into a habit.

Here are 5-morning habits that will help you to be more productive and jump-start your day!

1. Drink water

I know, drinking enough water each day is not at the top of many people’s lists of priorities, anyway, it is mandatory for our health. There are many benefits of taking enough fluids per day and I am sure you know them.

On the other hand, dehydration can affect your brain structure and function. Dehydration can impair energy levels, our mood, and lead to reductions in memory and brain performance. So make sure that you stay well hydrated!

2. Exercise

Walk around your neighborhood, do some stretching or yoga. It can give you good tonus and for sure you will be more energized throughout the day.

Morning exercise is a great way to start the day on a positive note. You’ll also feel a sense of satisfaction, giving you an optimistic outlook for the day.

3. Make a To-do list

A to-do list is a great way to organize your day and achieve your goals. Manage tasks effectively gives you back control of the day. It also gives you a positive productive feeling.

Try some applications and choose one which suits you best. I personally use Todoist as it has a browser extension as well.

Studies have shown that people perform better when they have written down what they need to do.

4. Do the hardest tasks first

In addition to point 3, I would recommend finishing the hardest tasks first. Doing that at the begging of the day, for example before noon could help you to be in a better mood and so much more productive during the rest of the day.

Doing the toughest task first will create impulse in your day. Crossing out the most difficult things will let you use your energy more effectively. Furthermore, this will give you the feeling of a good and well-spent day.

5. Do NOT check your social media at the moment when you open your eyes

Although smartphones improve the quality of our lives these days, they can also be a major source of distraction and stress. Many people have no oversight over their smartphone use.

And, yes, definitely Social Media negatively influences our productivity and motivation during the day.

When checking social media, your brain releases a lot of dopamine, so your brain will crave more and more dopamine during the day which will reduce your focus on the more important tasks.

Conclusion

Plan time for yourself in the morning before your day gets away from you!

The way you start your day sets the tone for the rest of the day — so make sure you start it well!
