How to work from home productively?

COVID-19 took everyone by surprise by its insane spread at the beginning of all this madness. One after another, companies turned into remote working, some voluntarily, some by force. The right move was to turn into remote working immediately after all. Now that we left an entire month behind, experiencing quarantine and remote work, it seems like most of the people didn't need an office to be working.

The only problem was the decreasing productivity levels for people who are not used to working from home. In your home environment, where you are used to relaxing and unwinding, you probably won't have a problem finding distracting activities, wink-Netflix-wink. It is completely natural for most people to get distracted, the important part is to try and limit those distractions to a minimum.

Thanks to many SaaS companies, there are many tools that can help individuals to increase their productivity levels.

Time Tracker Apps

Lack of time management is one of the major productivity killers. You can get lost in a simple task or keep scrolling in the bottomless pit of Instagram discovery. All of a sudden you lost 1,5 hours doing absolutely nothing productive.

A good way of preventing this is to utilize a time tracker app. A time tracker app can clearly spread out the time spent in every single activity for the user to be more aware of their allocation of time. These apps can even let the user know about their most productive time of day for the user to double down on that time slot. Some of the examples are Clockify, Hours, Harvest, Toggl.

Collaboration Project Management Software Tools

If you are not a freelancer, even working from home, you are still a part of a company. Therefore you are going to need to be in control and aware of your colleagues' tasks as well. Proper teamwork gains more value while working from home because it's more likely to be harder to stay in touch with your team. The collaboration project management tools come to help in this matter. The upcoming, done or currently active tasks with their status can be easily tracked using tools like Asana, Smartsheet, monday.com.

Using Video Conferencing Tools

Seeing other people's faces and being able to communicate with them definitely helps not only with our work but also keeps our sanity restored. There is no way around meetings how unnecessary they are, that's why video conferencing comes in clutch for still having productive meetings while working from home. Tools like Zoom, Skype, Google Hangouts skyrocketed during the last month due to companies working from home simply can't do without them.

Zoom singled itself out from the competition with its reliability and ease of use. If you still have questions about the usage of Zoom, check out "How to use Zoom" article. If it's still not making sense for you, don't worry, there are plenty Zoom alternatives out there.

These video conferencing tools can also be used to hire remotely, socialize with your buddies, record podcasts and many more different activities during the quarantine.

Getting the Necessary Help

One humongous factor that affects our productivity levels is our stress levels. All the chaos and uncertainty definitely takes its toll from our mental health.

If you are feeling depressed and that is getting in your way of working, you might want to look for some medical help. Unfortunately, with the lockdowns getting help is harder nowadays.

Thankfully, telemedicine has been around for a while and people are now noticing how effective it is. If you are asking yourself, "What is telemedicine?" you are not alone. Many people were unaware of the topic until now. Telemedicine is basically to get necessary medical help without being present in a doctor's office, with the help of video tools.

Teletherapy is one of the many branches of the parent topic and getting widely spread day after day. If you feel that you can't concentrate on your work, feel free to give teletherapy a shot.

I wish all the remote workers the best of luck and huge amounts of productivity, we are living in a digital age, exploit the benefits of this wonderful era as much as you can. We could have been quarantined 10 years ago, which would be a little harder with our flip phones!
