I am currently a security researcher. I am still learning every day and would still consider myself a newbie in cybersecurity. I am writing this based on my experience so far. These are my viewpoints and may vary from person to person. If you are serious about becoming an ethical hacker, this is worth reading.
I don't want to waste any more of your time so I will jump right into it and hopefully express what I wish to convey. Here are three things you will want to do to start your ethical hacking journey.
1) Learn Linux
The first thing I wish to convey is to get your hands on Linux. Choose a distribution of your choice. I personally prefer Ubuntu because it's stable and has a very cool interface.
2) Learn different programming languages
Learn a few programming languages. You must know how to build something before you find mistakes in it right. Basic knowledge of a few programming languages is more than enough.
3) Kali Linux
Get your hands on Kali Linux. Explore the tools and test them out. Kali Linux has more than 200 tools.
You should randomly explore stuff and it will stimulate your curiosity. Remember that every solution is only a google search away. You can also ping me and I am ready to help you if I can.
Be sure to play around with Kali Linux and learn some of the awesome penetration testing tools they have available.
Conclusion
Keep digging in, learn more, and read as many bug reports as you can. They are worth reading.
Now, you are all set to fly high! All The best!!.
