Let me tell you a story about how I learned English.
In the beginning, my motivation for learning English was actually trying to keep "alive" in a company using English for communication. Back at that time, my leader had evaluated my English skills with level D in the range of A, B, C, and D. It was really hard for me to understand what my colleagues speak. That was my tough days.
My surrounding had a lot of people good at English. I really wanted to be good at it as well. This was how I made it:
- I tried to wake up earlier to watch videos on engvid.com while my roommates were still sleeping.
- I tried to practice speaking sentences from hellochao.com every noon while my colleagues were taking a rest.
- I tried to do a conversation with my online pals on Paltalk rooms while my friends were hanging out.
After I kept doing that continuously in 6 months, I felt confident in listening and speaking with English speakers. I also recognized that English was one of my essential skills using on a daily basis. I was able to read English books, watch English movies, and to attend meetups speaking English. Hence, it also becomes a tool for learning a lot of new things, not only using it at work.
