Discussions on your phone, start to finish

You can now open, answer and close a discussion from the Quill app on iOS and Android, including writing the decision. Until today the phone could only read threads, which meant decisions waited for someone to get back to a laptop.

  • Replies show the writer's local time (9:12 AM ET, 6:12 AM PT) so nobody guesses.
  • Closing a thread asks for the decision first, then the pages it changes.
  • Push notifications respect each person's working hours, set once in their profile.

Stale pages rank last in search

Search now weighs a page's verification as well as its words. A page verified in the last ninety days ranks above an older one that matches the same sentence, and a stale page carries a quiet label in the results so you know to check it.

On our own workspace this moved the right answer into the top result for 71% of searches, up from 58%.

The decision log, filtered by page

Every page now has a Decisions tab listing what was decided about it, newest first, with who decided and the thread behind each one. The workspace-wide log gained filters for team, quarter and page.

  • Reopened decisions stay on the record, struck through, with a link to what replaced them.
  • Export any filtered view to CSV.

Imports keep their nested pages

Pages imported from Google Docs folders more than four levels deep were landing flat at the top of the tree. They now keep their place, and links between them are rewritten to point at the new pages.

If an import of yours flattened before today, run it again from Settings → Import; Quill updates the pages it already made instead of duplicating them.

Owners hand pages over in one step

When someone changes teams or leaves, their pages no longer go ownerless. Workspace admins can hand every page a person owns to someone else at once, with a note that appears on each page's history.

  • The new owner gets a single list of what they took on, sorted by next verification date.
  • Pages without an owner now say so at the top, in plain words.

Faster editor on very long pages

The editor now loads and scrolls smoothly on pages past 20,000 words. Our longest customer page, a 312-section clinical protocol, opens in 0.9 seconds instead of 4.1. Typing latency on large tables dropped by about two thirds.

Close dates on discussions

Every new discussion now has a close date, three working days out by default. The day before, Quill reminds whoever opened it, and on the day it asks them to write the decision or move the date with a reason.

Old discussions without a date are left alone. Turn the default off per space if a team works on longer cycles.

Mentions across time zones

Mention notifications sent near midnight were sometimes stamped with the next day for people west of the writer. Times in notifications and email digests now always show the reader's local time and zone (ET, CT, MT, PT, AKT or HT).

Guests can comment, not just read

People outside your company that you invite to a page (clients, contractors, an auditor) can now leave comments and reply in discussions on the pages shared with them. They still cannot see anything else, and guests remain free on every plan.

  • Guest comments carry a small Guest label so nobody mistakes them for staff.
  • Admins can turn guest comments off per space.
