Why we built it
Started by the person who used to book every trip
Before Pioneer, Ruth ran operations at a forty-person remote company. Twice a year she moved the whole team to one city for a week, and every time it cost her most of a month: the flights, the rooms, the budget spreadsheet and the receipts that trickled in until summer.
Pioneer began as a script she and Owen wrote to book that offsite from one message in chat. It booked inside the policy, kept the budget live and matched the receipts on its own. Other operations leads asked for it within the month.
Today it books for 640 remote teams, from eight people to sixty. We still build it for the one person on each team who used to do all of this by hand.
