Juno Park

Designer and developer

About.

Portrait of Juno Park

I have been making software interfaces for eleven years, which is long enough to have watched the same three ideas come back around under different names.

I started in front-end at a small agency in 2015, on the theory that a designer who can ship is worth two who cannot. That turned out to be true, though not for the reason I expected: the value was never the code, it was that I stopped proposing things that could not exist.

Since 2024 I have worked for myself, mostly in four-to-six week stretches with teams of three to ten people. The work is usually one of two shapes — a system that has grown faster than its rules, or a product that knows what it does but not how to say it.

Outside of that I keep a small shelf of tools I made for myself, a letter that goes out twice a year on paper, and a running list of things I would like to take out of the world rather than add to it.

Work.

2024 — Now

Independent, Portland

Design and front-end for small product teams, usually four to six weeks at a time.

2021 — 2024

Staff Designer, Vantage

Built and maintained the design system. Wrote most of the documentation, which turned out to be the job.

2018 — 2021

Product Designer, Loomwork

The scheduling product, then the mobile app, then the long rebuild of both.

2015 — 2018

Front-end Developer, Harbourside

Where I learned that a designer who can ship is worth two who cannot.

Work with me.

I read everything and reply to most of it. Good reasons to write: you are stuck on an interface problem, you disagree with something here, or you have four to six weeks of work and a team worth joining.
