    Javascript is a functional programming language that you can run directly on the clients device, so unlike other programming languages where you will need to run it on the server once and return a respond of example a HTML page, then you can run Javascript in the browser, whenever you want without having to reload the page.
    Example is that if you have a comment field like this below, then using Javascript it could validate the input, without reloading the page, while using a server side language it would need to refresh the browser page to see wether or not the input is valid.
